Terms & Conditions of Ticket Purchase

General

Terms and conditions of purchases will apply to all transactions placed online, by e-mail, telephone or by post or in person with The Rural Life Living Museum / Old Kiln Museum CIO (OKMCIO) or an official third-party ticket agent as listed on the Rural Life Living Museum website.

Tickets purchased 'second hand' from unauthorised individuals or outlets will not be valid for return or refund where applicable.

Please read carefully before placing any order. Possession of a ticket signifies an acceptance of these terms and conditions.

We take care to ensure that all details, descriptions, timings, and prices that appear on our website are correct at the time when the information was entered. Whilst we aim to keep the Website as up to date as possible, the information appearing on our website at a particular time may not precisely reflect the position at the moment you place your order. OKMCIO reserves the right to alter the information displayed on its website at any time, or to alter the times of operation, content, availability, and accessibility of the Museum at any time.

Prices

All prices are shown in pounds sterling (£).

All credit / debit card transactions are subject to validation checks and authorisations by the card issuer. If the issuer of your card refuses to authorise payment to us, OKMCIO will not be liable for any delay and / or non-delivery of your tickets.

Delivery

Tickets purchased online will be delivered electronically via the email address supplied at time of purchase. No paper copy tickets will be sent out to customers. Whilst every effort is made to ensure that delivery is made within reasonable timescales, some delays are occasionally inevitable. Tickets purchased at reception will be provided with a paper receipt as proof of transaction. Tickets are subject to availability. All tickets remain the property of OKMCIO until payment of all sums owing in respect of those tickets has been received in full by OKMCIO. All online ticket holders must redeem their ticket on arrival using the barcode sent in the confirmation email. Electronic tickets and or proof of purchase must be retained during your visit. From time to time, usually for special events, the Museum will issue wristbands to visitors on entry at reception and redemption of tickets purchased. When wristbands are in use they must be worn at all times during opening hours.

Disabled / Carer Concession

We assume that, whereas the disabled person wishes to visit the Rural Life Living Museum, the carer may not and so the disabled person must purchase a normal ticket, and, on production of proof of carer eligibility at reception, the carer will be entitled to free entry. This is limited to a 1 Carer per disabled person over the age of 16 limit. Where it is imperative that a second carer is necessary to accompany the disabled person, documentation to that effect must be presented at reception on arrival. All free carer tickets are presented by Rural Life Museum Reception staff discretion, proof of eligibility may be requested.

Tyopes of proof of eligiability include:

·       Eligibility for Middle or Higher rate DLA (for care or mobility)

·       Receipt of enhanced rate PIP.

·       Disabled parking badges, disabled railcards or any concessions other than those listed above are not valid.

 

Returns Policy

Unwanted tickets are not eligible for refund.

Lost /Stolen/Damaged Tickets

Once received, tickets are the responsibility of the ticket buyer.

Where tickets are purchased online, email confirmation of ticket purchase can be re-sent on request provided that the purchaser can supply any of the following:

·       Booking Reference Number

·       Name on Booking

·       Date of Purchase

Cancellation/Refund Policy

In the event of the cancellation, forced closure or postponement of The Rural Life Living Museum or any of its events due to Force Majeure or government legislation, ticket holders will, in the first instance be offered future dates to visit, or tickets can be rolled forward to another event. Refunds are at the sole discretion of the Museum Director. Proof of purchase will be required.

Terms & Conditions of Museum Entry

The Rural Life Living Museum / OKMCIO reserve the right to refuse admission to any persons reasonably deemed to be a potential safety risk to themselves or others or that may affect the enjoyment of others and/or the running of the Museum. Persons will not be admitted who in the opinion of Museum management and/or designated representatives, appear to be under the influence of drink and/or illegal substances and/or are acting aggressively and/or are abusive. For security, from time to time, as deemed necessary and without prior announcement, all bags will be searched and entry will be denied if any of the following items are found: Weapons (including anything within reason that could be used as a weapon), alcohol, glass or glassware, recreational drugs. Glass bottles, open fires, fireworks and illegal substances are strictly prohibited and are therefore not allowed onsite. No private sound systems will be permitted onsite. No video or tape recorders, professional photographic equipment or laser pens will be permitted onsite without prior permission from Museum Management.  The Rural Life Living Museum / OKMCIO accepts no responsibility for any loss or damage of personal belongings. The Rural Life Living Museum / OKMCIO operates the Challenge 21 initiative which aims to cut down on underage alcohol sales. Anyone who looks under 21 will be asked to prove that they are over 18 with ID. Anyone failing to provide adequate ID will be denied alcohol in the café or at the bar where one is present.

The following conditions must be observed and adhered to on visiting the Rural Life Living Museum for any reason.

The museum reserves the right to refuse admission or to require any ticket holder that fails to adhere by these conditions, to leave the museum site at our discretion.  The final decision rests with the museum.  Any admission fees will not be refunded should a visitor be asked to leave the site.

·       Once the maximum capacity of the site has been reached, no further admissions will be permitted unless a valid ticket is presented.

·       All children under the age of 16 years must be accompanied by an adult (18+) at all times.

·       Visitors are not allowed to climb on any of the displays or machinery unless expressly signposted otherwise.

·       The Rural Life Living Museum is a non-smoking site both inside and outside the buildings.  There is a designated smoking area to the front of the museum adjacent to the café, beyond the wooden entry gate.  Vaping and e-cigarettes are also not permitted to be used inside the museum.

·       Visitors are required to make sure they keep all personal belongings with them at all times. Storage facilities are not available.

·       The Rural Life Living Museum does not accept responsibility for any loss or damage to personal belongings on the premises.

·       CCTV is in use on the museum site for the purposes of security, crime prevention and public safety.

·       The museum is a family friendly site and visitors are asked not to wear clothing that

·       Any photographs taken by visitors whilst on site are for personal use only and may not be used for commercial purposes without the express permission of the museum and may be subject to a licencing fee.  For more information, please contact us at info@rural-life.org.uk.

·       The museum does have an onsite photographer and visitors may be photographed or filmed for promotional purposes whilst visiting the museum and during special events.  If you do not wish to be photographed during your visit, please make it clear at reception on arrival.

·       The Rural Life Living Museum reserves the right to cancel, alter, curtail, or abandon any activity or special event, or close the museum or site without notice.  This right is reserved without liability to pay any person compensation or damages whatsoever.

Extra Information                        

·       Some of the events held at the museum, may involve unannounced loud music, or loud explosions or pyrotechnics.

·       Some of the events held at the museum may involve vehicular movement.

·       At some points during the year, livestock may be on site.

·       There is uneven ground on much of the site.  Visitors are asked to be vigilant when moving around the site as there may be tree roots, small burrows, wet grass, areas of mud and slippery ground.

·       The site can also become very dusty in dry weather and particularly when there is vehicular movement.  The dust can become airborne particularly when mixed with windy weather.

·       The site is wheelchair accessible, and the museum does one wheelchair available to borrow.  Wheelchair loan is free of charge but must be booked in advance.  Please contact us at info@rural-life.org.uk to book.

·       The chapel and granary buildings are not internally wheelchair accessible but can be viewed from outside.

·       Loaned wheelchairs must not be removed from the museum site.

·       Accessible toilets with pull cord alarms and baby change facilities are available on site.

·       Blue Badge disabled parking bays are available at the top of the main drive next to the museum entrance.

·       Dogs are allowed on site and must be kept on the lead at all times.  Please note that there may be livestock on site at certain times of the year.

·       The use of naked flames is prohibited onsite.

·       Knives/weapons, replica or otherwise, fireworks or explosives, illegal/legal highs and laser pens are not permitted on site.

·       Bench seating is available around the site and a sheltered picnic area is available for use.

·       Our onsite café provides hot meals, snacks and refreshments during the museum’s opening hours.

Alcohol

The compliance of The Rural Life Living Museum OKMCIO with the four licensing objectives of Waverley Borough Council determines that alcohol cannot be brought into the Museum. OKMCIO intends to protect its valuable license and so persons bringing alcohol onto site will be asked to leave. Alcohol is available from the licensed café or bar at certain events.

Current opening hours can be found on the Rural Life Living Museum website and are subject to change without notice.

Disabled Facilities

Adequate disabled toilet facilities are available within the Museum, located in the main toilet block.

Programme

Whilst every effort is made to ensure the full advertised programme is maintained, the organisers reserve the right to add, withdraw or substitute artists or content, and to vary the advertised programme and running times, if necessary, without prior notice.

Special Event Tickets

Not all Museum events are covered by General Admission. Separate charges may be made for certain events. Please check admission prices on our website before making final purchase.

Weyfest tickets are available from weyfest.co.uk and affiliated ticket outlets. Weyfest tickets are not available for purchase via the Museum or its website.

Surrey Hills Spring Fair tickets are available from Surrey Hills Enterprises. Details are available on our website prior to the event.

Event content or artist lineups are subject to change without notice. Where possible notifications of change will be made via our website and / or social media channels.

Should any Special Event be cancelled, delayed or postponed in the event of extreme weather, or other force Majeure, tickets will not be subject to reimbursement.

Complimentary Admission

Complimentary Admission is subject to each event / General Admission and is liable to change without notice. Annual Pass holders / Members of the Friends of the Rural Life Living Museum are permitted free entry to the Museum upon presentation of a valid pass. Passes are not applicable to all events, please check the website.

Group Bookings

Large groups/ coach parties are welcome by prior arrangement and must be booked at least 10 days in advance.

Coach parking will be made available in the main car park for pre-booked groups.

Pre booked groups of 10 may benefit from a Group booking rate, please contact the museum for more information and to book your Group Visit.

School and youth group bookings can be made by contacting us at schools@rural-life.org.uk.  Special rates are available.

Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult at all times.  Minimum adult to child ratio is 1 adult to 10 children.

Gift Aid

By adding Gift Aid to your ticket purchase, you can help the museum.  As a charity, Gift Aid allows us to reclaim tax from the government on your donation.  As a UK taxpayer, you can turn your payment into a Gift Aid donation and then we can claim back 25p for each £1.  Helping us to claim back this money, costs you nothing but it does help to ensure the future running of the museum.

Smoking

Smoking is only permitted within the designated smoking area located in the café garden.

Trading

Strictly no trading is permitted within the entire Museum grounds without prior written consent.

Annual Passes / Membership – Friends of the Rural Life Living Museum

Annual passes are available from reception or online.

·       Annual passes allow unlimited visits to the museum during opening hours with some exceptions.  Please check our website for details.

·       Annual membership fees may be subject to change and the Rural Life Living Museum / OKMCIO reserves the right to alter or withdraw benefits that apply at any time without notice.

·       Annual membership passes must be presented on arrival at the museum to gain access to the site.

·       Annual memberships are non-transferable and non-refundable.

·       Special event tickets not included in the annual membership package are not subject to discounts.

·       It is the member’s responsibility to ensure all personal details held on their account are current and up to date.

·       Annual members are bound by the general Terms and Conditions of visiting the Rural Life Living Museum.

Payments and Renewals

Annual membership is valid from the date purchased for 12 months, unless otherwise stated.  On expiration of your membership, you will no longer be entitled to free access to the museum and its grounds until a renewal has been made.

Once receipt of your payment by the museum has been made, you have entered into a 12-month contract with the museum. Should you wish to cancel your membership, no refunds for the remaining period will be given.

The Rural Life Living Museum / OKMCIO reserves the right to cancel memberships, if in its opinion, you behave in a way which is considered harassing, causing distress, inconvenience or discomfort to other visitors, members, volunteers, museum staff, trustees, donors, patrons, or supporters of the Rural Life Living Museum.

Membership can also be cancelled if the membership pass is misused, borrowed, loaned, or given away without prior consent from the Rural Life Living Museum or if there is any attempt to do so.  In all cases, membership can be revoked at any time without compensation.

These terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with English Law.

Data Protection Act

The Rural Life Living Museum only collects an email or postal address where tickets are purchased online, or Gift Aid is added to purchases. Email addresses are not shared with any third party but may be used to communicate future Museum events / offers. Ticket purchase is completed through a third-party agent, Digitickets, OKMCIO does not handle card transaction data. Possession of ticket signifies consent as a patron to photography and/or filming/sound recording within the Museum which may then be used for promotional purposes.

Amendments

The Rural Life Living Museum / OKMCIO reserves the right to amend its Terms and Conditions at any time and in accordance with all relevant laws and consumer rights.
